Winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for the best comedy of the year 2000, The Memory of Water features three sisters who return to the family home on the eve of their mother's funeral.  As the conflicts of the past converge, everyday lies and tensions reveal the particular patterns and strains of family relationships.  At times funny, at times sad and poignant, it is an entertaining and thought-provoking play.

The ghost of Vi (Jan Mitchell) awaits the arrival of her three daughters for her funeral.

Vi watches over her daughters Mary (Marcia Baldry), Theresa (Diana Bradley) and Catherine (Carol Parradine)

Theresa harangues her husband Frank (Adam Thompson) over the emptiness of their marriage.

Mary seeks comfort in the arms of her lover Mike (Steve Bradley).

Catherine tries to convince her sisters that she leads an exciting life with her Spanish lover.

The sisters, whilst clearing out their mother's bedroom, dress up in her clothes unaware that she is watching disapprovingly.

The family gather and start to bicker over their past and present lives.
